03

Term or permanent?
Start with the purpose.

Neither option is automatically better. The right discussion begins with the need, timeframe and budget.

Defined period

Term insurance

  • Designed for a selected coverage period
  • Often begins with a lower cost than permanent coverage
  • Can align with temporary needs such as income replacement or debt
  • Renewal or conversion terms should be understood

Long-term protection

Permanent insurance

  • Designed to remain in force when required premiums and policy conditions are met
  • Generally starts at a higher cost than term coverage
  • May be considered for lifelong or estate-related needs
  • Policy features, guarantees, values and costs vary

This comparison is general education, not a recommendation. Product terms and availability vary.

06

Questions worth asking.

Clear answers can help you prepare for a more useful conversation.

Do I need personal insurance if I have workplace coverage?

Workplace coverage can be valuable, but review its amount, limitations and portability. Consider whether it would remain sufficient after a job change or loss of employment.

Is life insurance only for parents?

No. A need may also arise from shared debts, a spouse’s financial dependence, business obligations, final expenses or longer-term estate objectives.

Can I change my coverage later?

Some changes may be possible, but policy terms, eligibility and new underwriting can apply. Review available options before assuming coverage can be changed.

Does health affect the cost?

Health is commonly considered during underwriting, along with factors such as age, smoking status, coverage design, occupation and lifestyle.

Am I obligated to purchase after a conversation?

No. The first conversation is intended to understand your questions and explain the process. You decide whether you want to continue.
